FARM HISTORY
‘Chulu’ is derived from one of the peaks of Mt Everest. The Farm is 15 years old.

LOCATION
The farm is located at the foot of Mt Kenya at an altitude of 2150m. This is ideal for the production of all cool season flowers and vegetables. The soils vary widely within the farm ranging from Loamy to Rocky and Black cotton soils.

FARM SIZE
The total farm size is 65 Hectares

SOURCE OF WATER AND IRRIGATION
The farm has a borehole which yields 90m3/hr, adequate for supplying the entire production area with water. The water is suitable for both irrigation and consumption. The irrigation process employed is drip irrigation. Additional water supply comes from a reservoir located in the farm, with a capacity of 18,000m3.
The average rainfall received in the area is 900- 1800mm per annum.

FARM MANAGEMENT
The farm is headed by a Farm Manager, working with a strong team that heads the different departments. The management team is well trained and experienced.

AUDITS
The farm is Global GAP certified; For Life certified; and also carries out other statutory audits like NEMA, Health & safety and fire audits. Therefore, the company is committed to production of flowers and food as per GAP regulations. This ensures product quality and safety while while practicing environmentally friendly farming

WORKERS WELFARE AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
The farm provides PPE, medical examinations and training to the staff. There is an on-site canteen where the staff access food at subsidized prices. A welfare committee with members from all departments meets once a month to deliberate on welfare issues, a health team that meets quarterly and also carries out internal audits quarterly and an environmental committee that meets biannually
